All About Garbage and Recycling

All About Garbage and Recycling

Did you know that the average person creates about 5 pounds of garbage a day? That's about 1800 pounds every year -- per person! So what happens to all that garbage? Join Backpack Jack and friends as they dive into the big, stinky and amazing story of garbage. Hold your nose as we visit a landfill to discover what happens to garbage when it leaves your home. Then we'll visit a recycling plant to learn all the ways we can recycle and keep trash out of landfills. We'll watch cans squashed into blocks, we'll watch a wood chipper that makes fuel pellets for heating schools, and we'll see the huge, powerful jaw that snaps big pieces of scrap metal into pieces. And we'll check out an amazing car-crushing machine that flattens old cars! C'mon, let's go with Backpack Jack to smash some trash!

Collections - Why Do population collect Things?

There were seashells everywhere. The room was furnished with couches and chairs with a seashell pattern on the upholstery. There were lamps with shades covered with shells. Sculptures made of shells and books about seashells sat on the tables. House photos in seashell- encrusted frames lined the shelves. A curio cabinet was filled with more shells. I was visiting the home of a new acquaintance. She collects seashells. A extra room in her home was dedicated to shells. There were shells from all over the world everywhere in that room. Even the company card she gave me was decorated with a photo of a large shell.

Collections - Why Do population collect Things?

People have a natural tendency to derive things. Seashells may not be their passion but either its coins, stamps, postcards, spoons, or more bizarre things like teabags, chocolate bar wrappers or traffic signs we human beings seem inclined to be collectors. Dr. Steve Anderson, a neurologist at the University of Iowa says our need to derive may harken back to an earlier point in our evolution, since many animals hoard things, especially food.

Collections - Why Do population collect Things?

According to Susan Pearce, author of the book Interpreting Objects and Collections one in three North Americans collects something. There are many distinct kinds of collections and collectors.

Collections - Why Do population collect Things?

Collections - Why Do population collect Things?

Some collections are souvenirs or mementos of a place. I once visited the home of a couple who derive masks every time they travel. One wall of their dining room is covered with primary painted masks from South Africa, Egypt, Vietnam, the Philippines and dozens of other places. When they are on a trip they never have to stop and think about what to buy as a souvenir. They just look for a mask to add to their collection.

Some collections are gifts. I know a man who gives his mother a china plate every Mother's Day with a message or saying about mothers on it. He hunts through ancient market and curio shops, often for weeks, until he finds a plate and a compose that he hasn't already purchased. His mother has more than twenty such plates in her collection.

Some collections are of practical use. I have friends who are world travelers and derive Starbucks Coffee mugs from every place they visit. There are Starbucks franchises in more than forty countries. Our friends don't have forty distinct mugs but categorically sufficient for a fairly large group of coffee drinking guests.

The desire to learn new things can also be the impetus behind a collection. I know person who collects military artifacts from the World Wars. He has uniforms, machinery, vehicles, sheet music, maps, books, flags and photographs. His range has helped him learn a great deal about military history.

Some people derive things because of their monetary value. I used to work with a woman who collected Barbie Dolls. She assured me someday she would sell her range and make a mint of money.

Susan Pearce says there are some collections which she terms 'magic'. There is no rhyme or reckon for collecting them but they have a obvious appeal or attraction for the collector. I fantasize this might apply to a range of snow globes or a large range of Superman memorabilia.

Collections can remind us of obvious experiences and foremost people in our lives. They can help us learn new things. They can be practical or magical. If you're not a assembler you might want to think about becoming one. Collections can enrich our lives.

In addition, some travelers have reported an growth in theft from checked luggage. In calling the buyer service lines of Delta Airlines, the very courteous representative right away read a script that Delta Airlines is not responsible for electronics, jewelry or any other items stolen from checked luggage. Read the small print and think twice about what items you pack in luggage that you will check (especially if you voyage straight through small airports).

* Please note that the list of approved items is field to change by the Tsa, and may also be field to individual agent, airport or item interpretation.

Backpacking Adventure by Nutnfancy

Backpacking Adventure by Nutnfancy
The Summer 2010 Nutnfancy backpack crew sets out on another high mountain adventure, this time climbing above 11700 feet. The hike is arduous and holds danger at several points. The views are stunning. We hike past and show the waterfalls, creeks, snow fields, alpine basins, quaking aspens and conifers, valley views, mountain flowers, high mountain meadows, boulder and talus slopes and the associated knife ridges, and a beautiful glacier. In this crew are Nutnfancy, son LastSuspect, and our intrepid Mountain Dog, Allie.

Backpacking Adventure by Nutnfancy

We enjoy the frequent and close by company of our mountain goat friends as we reach the peak with awe inspiring views. High winds on the peak, a treacherous 25 foot cliff decent, and a glacier glissade required extra care but conquered safely. We log about 20 miles in our hiking and backpacking adventure in WTAIT adventure and it is exhausting, even being in shape. We press on through some minor injuries and chalk up another memorable adventure. These videos help us share that memory with you (they are hard to make too!). Watch for the WTAIT Actual series. Urban Every Day Carry Bag (EDC)

Urban Every Day Carry Bag (EDC) Video Clips. Duration : 12.87 Mins.

UPDATE: This version of my Urban EDC Backpack is out of date. Here is the updated version: www.youtube.com This is my current Every Day Carry (EDC) bag. It is used in an Urban setting, so there are several items that are not included because I felt were more suited for a Rural setting. It also does not contain a Gun, Knife or Multi-Tool those are all included with my "on my person" EDC. The backpack is a Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon-II and the total weight of the EDC is 15.2 pounds (including full water bottle). I am not a law enforcement officer, military or self proclaimed outdoor survival expert. I am just a white collar family guy who likes to be prepared for most situations. I did do A LOT of research before purchasing all of the items included in this video. Please leave constructive comments. I'm always looking for ways to improve my Urban EDC. It is a constant work in progress. Thanks!

Beach Vacation Packing List

Beach Vacation Packing List

Planning a summer road trip where you'll hit a lot of beaches along a coast? You'll need a beach vacation packing list to make sure you don't forget anything.

Beach Vacation Packing List

Beach Vacation Packing List

Beach Vacation Packing List

Beach Vacation Packing List

Beach Vacation Packing List

You've got lots of options as far as what coast and where on it you will travel, but your beach vacation packing will need to change depending on the temperature where you're going. A coastal trip up to Maine is very different from a trip along the coast of Southern California.

Ready to hit the road and enjoy some fun in the sun?

Beach Vacation Packing List: general Stuff/Any Climate
Maps and printed out directions for your route. Get a Gps law if you can - it can be a great help if you get lost or just want to find something, like a pizza place. Printed out hotel confirmations/reservation facts for whatever you've booked for your trip. Both a first-aid kit and a roadside accident kit including a flashlight with fresh batteries. Get Aaa if you don't have it- not only is it great for roadside assistance and other issues with your vehicle, most hotels offer discounts to Aaa members. Every kind of charger you need for your cell phones, digital cameras, etc. Load up whatever that requires batteries with fresh ones so you don't have to waste time on your trip stopping to buy them. Clothes for every day of your trip, sleepwear, underwear and socks. Pack no more than three pairs of shoes (pick ones that will go with roughly everything) and make sure one pair is a good pair of walking shoes. All toiletries and other grooming materials. Put things that might leak in plastic sealable bags. Don't forget any prescriptions you might need. Swiss Army knife or all the tools it includes - a small knife, corkscrew, bottle opener, and scissors. Rain ponchos for those occasional rainy days. Two coolers, one large one for your trip (filled with snacks, meals and beverages), and one smaller one to tote to the beach. Big blanket for when you're cold or to use as a picnic blanket/beach blanket. Pillows if whatever in your group likes to nap. A pair of sunglasses for everyone in the group. For those who need glasses and contacts, pack them along with all the critical drops and cleaning fluids.
Beach Vacation Packing List: Hot Climate
Bathing suits - at least two. Bring just one and it will always be cold and damp when you put it on. Plus, you'll need to wash it regularly, manufacture it even slower to dry. Woolite/gentle soap for washing bathing suits. Beach towels - two for each person. Why? Just like bathing suits, towels don't always dry as fast as we'd like them to, so having an extra is essential. Sunscreen, aloe gel, and other sunburn remedies. Bring some, but don't stress about having all that you need - all of these items are readily available in any drugstore. Hats are a good idea - you'd be amazed at how burned your scalp can get, even with a full head of hair. Sandals and flip-flops for the beach. Beach cover-ups/outfits for each day and a fresh outfit for every evening. If you want to minimize clothes, just pack a fresh t-shirt/top for the evening. Sweatshirts, sweaters, and light jackets for cooler nights. One or more sun umbrellas unless you know that every beach you'll be visiting offers rentals. No matter how much sunscreen you slather on, it's rarely sufficient for a whole day in the sun and playing in the waves, so sitting in the shade of your umbrella can make all the difference. Large beach bag with lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen of all Spf's, napkins, and cash for concession stands. Put some hair elastics in the bag for whatever with long hair so that they can pull it back when it's hot or windy (or both). Lots of reading - books, magazines, and newspapers. This is a trip where you categorically get a opportunity to read (assuming you're into reading). Mp3 players with headphones/Earbuds. Disposable cameras. Never bring your digital camera (or laptop) to the beach because the salt air will gum all the parts up and destroy it. Inflatable toys/mattresses and boogie boards for playing in the waves. Other beach games are also great to bring along.
Beach Vacation Packing List: Cool/Cold Climate
Unless you enjoy swimming in freezing cold water, you'll only need one bathing suit. If you love a brisk swim among the icebergs, you'll need two and you'll also need to bring a bottle of Woolite/gentle soap for washing your suits. For the occasional invigorating dip in the ocean, pack one large towel for each person. Pack a lot of layers when selecting your outfits. T-shirts, light pullover/fleeces, heavy sweaters, jackets, shorts, jeans and other long pants are all items you can bring and then layer depending on the weather. The temperature can change frequently while the day so plan accordingly. Pack lots of socks - from thinner cotton ones to thicker warm ones. Sunscreen - make sure to wear this even if you're not spending all day on the beach. As you'll probably spend more time engaged in other activities, it's unlikely you'll spend sufficient time in the sun as to end up with sunburn, so you can probably skip packing the sunburn remedies. Sneakers and socks will probably be used more than flip flops, which most people will find too cold. If you're planning to hike some of the northern parks, pack hiking boots, thick socks, and a compass. Make sure to bring your cell phone in case you get lost. Grabbing a trail map (and sticking to marked trails) is the best way to avoid getting lost in the first place. It's a good idea to figure out one action for every day above and beyond the beaches, which will only take a small whole of time to visit as it will be fairly cold. Whether you're exploring local sights or participating in outdoor activities and sports, you'll be sure to have a categorically fun vacation.

Now you've got all things you need for a spectacular, summer road trip!

Tyler Hansbrough - High School Basketball career (Bio) Before the University of North Carolina (Unc)

Tyler Hansbrough - High School Basketball career (Bio) Before the University of North Carolina (Unc)

Andrew Tyler Hansbrough was born in November of 1985 and began going by his middle name of Tyler rather than his first name of Andrew at a young age. As a youth growing up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri (population 17,000) in the southeastern measure of the state near the Arkansas border Tyler showed immense basketball potential.

Tyler Hansbrough - High School Basketball career (Bio) Before the University of North Carolina (Unc)

Long before Tyler was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the first round (number 13 farranging pick) of the 2009 Nba Draft and even before he set basketball records with the storied University of North Carolina (Unc) Tar Heels basketball schedule he honed his game in his small southern Missouri hometown where he was born and raised. As a star basketball player for the Poplar Bluff High School Mules Tyler led his team to back to back state championships.

Despite the relatively small size of the city of Poplar Bluff, Missouri the basketball schedule competes in the largest classifications in the state. This is largely because in spite of the small size of the city of Poplar Bluff with only one high school and students being drawn from the surrounding area there is still a immense pupil body. As a junior and senior in high school Tyler led his school to back to back state championships in Class 5 in Missouri.

The championships for the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons were played and won in the Hearnes center in 2004 and Mizzou Arena in 2005 on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The Hearnes center opened in 1972 and served as the home court for the University of Missouri Tigers basketball teams until its closure in 2004. The brand new Mizzou arena supplanted the Hearnes center and opened in November of 2004. High school state championship basketball games in Missouri were played for years at the Hearnes center and are now played at Mizzou Arena.

The state championship that Tyler won in March of 2005 was particularly suited because he led his underdog team to a victory in the championship game against Vashon High School. Vashon High School is a dominant basketball school from St. Louis, Missouri that has won 11 boys basketball state championships. When the Poplar Bluff Mules, led by Tyler Hansbrough, squared off against the Vashon High School Wolverines in early 2005 for the state championship Vashon entered the game undefeated and as the estimate one ranked team in the nation.

For his efforts in high school basketball which included averaging over 28 points per game and more than 13 rebounds per contest as a senior Tyler was twice recognized as a first team All-State basketball player. The high school success that Hansbrough enjoyed in case, granted him the opening to choose to play for any college basketball schedule that he wanted. The young man sorted through scholarship offers from storied programs like the University of Kentucky, University of Kansas, and Duke before ultimately choosing to play for Coach Roy Williams at the University of North Carolina (Unc) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

34 Fun School Carnival Game Ideas

1. The charm Salon was a beloved booth at our Fall Carnival. The boys and girls loved getting their hair colored, blue, green, pink!

2. Karaoke was also very beloved this year!

3. About three years ago, our room moms rented an electonic bull. (I can't think of the right name!) The line never ended! The kids and adults loved it!

4. My sons' school has a Kissing Booth. They didn't get actual kisses, but they did give you a Hershey's Kiss instead. They also have a lips stamp, and they stamp your face with it! And you see Tons of kids running colse to their carnival with any kisses! Very cute!

5. We played "Bingo for Books" in the media center.

6. Snack Walk (like a cake walk but kids picked out bags of chips, a box of tiny Debbies, bag of cookies, 2 liter bottle of soda, etc

7. We also auctioned off Janitor-, Principal- and Librarian- for-a-day. Those were very popular. (Janitor brought in the most!)

8. We have done Super Twister with dots painted on a large piece of tarp that got taped to the floor with everyone trying to touch the accurate color with the accurate body part. Ours is big sufficient that 30+ kids can play at a time.

9. A beloved game at our school's carnival was the football toss. Rings were hung from the ceiling (beginning with rings the size of a hula-hoop) and you would try to throw a football through a ring. The smaller the ring, the higher the points.

10. Hit the instructor With a Wet Sponge. Hugely popular, even with the parents.

11. Bubble-gum Blowing Contest: beloved because gum's usually a no-no.

12. Advanced Spelling Bee- Allowed students to take steps toward prize board if correct; end of the line if missed.

13. Dress up the Teacher: Hit stable sales and the Good Will for outrageous items to dress a teacher. Tie this in with question solving/ academics standardized test review...use a digital camera to photo results as keep sake.

14. A few years back we had a carnival and one big distributor was the "Loonie " Jars (here in Canada we call our dollar a Loonie. ) We asked families to donate jars filled with items - such as packs of gum, small toys, marbles, pencils, - you name it, people filled them. We had over 400 donated. Then people drew a number from a basket and that was the jar they got.

15. We just had our carnival on Thursday and Friday, and I teach third grade. This year we did the toy walk (played just like the cake walk). We used small inexpensive toys (.00 limit) the kids brought in and also got some happy meal toys donated from McDonald's. Other one we did was the Wii game. The kids loved it!!!

16. We do a "Great Pumpkin Obstacle Race" where the pupil dresses up like a great pumpkin (we use my orange hunting coat, hat, and gloves) then they go through tires, over hay bales, and weave through pumpkins. The kids love it!

17. Last year at our fall festival we had a duck race. You set up a small pool and get the tiny bath ducks. You also need squirt guns. The students "race" their ducks using the spray from the squirt guns to make them go. It was surely fun!

18. We had a carnival many years ago and the booth that was the biggest hit, was the engraving booth. We ordered necklaces from Oriental Trading and had one of those hand held engraving machines and wrote the kids names on them. It was quick and easy.

19. A parent built a Plinko board that travels from grade to grade with his son - it's the most beloved item at the fair. We have a stage in our gym so kids stand on the stage to drop the Plinko disks.

20. The Fortune Teller booth is our most beloved one.

21. Strangeness boxes- boxes with holes that the kids put their hands into- had peeled grapes, cold spaghetti, jello with fruit. We gave each one a scary name.

22. Guess the weight of a big pumpkin.

23. We sold plastic gloves filled with popcorn. Each "hand" had a spider ring on the finger.

24. Musical Chairs with Stuffed Animals. Before the carnival, procure stuffed animals (kids can donate these by the arm loads). Put them in a pile in the town of the room. Place chairs in a circle colse to the stuffed animals. Put numbers under the chairs. Play music for a minute. Have kids sit. Draw a number. Winner picks a stuffed animal.

25. What about sand art? The kids love it! You can get supplies on line, such as small plastic bottles and bracelets. Use salt dyed with food coloring for the sand.

26. Other idea is to make a box maze in your classroom. It could be a crawl through. Maybe kids could solve a puzzle along the way.

27. Guessing contests are fun. Decorate clear glass jars and fill with what ever. Lollipops, M&M's, private wrapped candies, pretzels, dry beans might add a soup development recipe, so that it shows on the surface of the jar. Here again have dissimilar people bring a decorated jar full of something and have them count and put on a folded paper on the underside of the jar lid the number of items in the jar. Only one prize per winner and of base house members can't win their jar. The more jars the more winners. Any size jar will work - jelly jars, gallon jars, miracle whip jars and etc. Decorating is fun. Example one person wholly covered the jar with wrapping paper and put 1 bag of candy in the jar, so the accurate guess was one. Stick on stickers. Make a puff top on the lid. Glue on lace. Tape a pattern on the inside of the jar and use enamel paint and paint the invent on the surface of the jar and maybe form with permanent fabric paint. The form isn't necessary, but adds an extra nice touch. Don't forget to take off your pattern when complete.

28. Fluky Ball: Set up an easel with a bucket below. Child must bounce a ball off the easel into the bucket to win.

29. Tin Pan Alley: child rolls a ball down a ramp. At the bottom there is a box with 2 muffin tins painted with 3 dissimilar colors. The child rolls 3 balls. If 2 colors match, you win.

30. A great carnival idea is do offer a Dino Dig! Take a baby swimming pool, fill it with sand and small plastic dinosaurs (oriental trading has them cheap) give the kids a small shovel to dig for their dino. We also do digging for diamonds! Girls love looking tiny rings and such in the sand.

31. Pumpkin Ring Toss. We get donations from the local nurseries for pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks, gourds, etc. We take about ten of the larger stemed pumpkins and use them as the targets for the rong toss. I found wooden hoops at the local fabric store.

32. Gourd Bowling. I purchased a set of those plastic children pins and then used some of the gourds from the nurseries. The gourds roll funny so it makes it more fun.

33. Ping-Pong Ball Toss. We purchased ten of the plastic pumpkin trick-or-treat packaging that the kids use and had them placed as the target. I had a half dozen or so orange ping-pong balls that the kids have to toss in.

34. One of my beloved games is "Chicken Chucking". Get a few rubber chickens and set up an area that people can throw them into a pen (rubber maid bin) I place mine about 30 feet away and at 40 feet away. Its hilarious watching everyone throw it. When I did it at my church I found some real cute rubber chicken key chains to give away to the people that made it into the 40 feet away pen.

Facts About Mount Saint Helens

Facts About Mount Saint Helens

Mount Saint Helens is probably one of the most celebrated volcanoes in the United States, along with Hawaii's Mauna Loa, which is itself the most massive volcano on the earth. Mount St. Helens is still active, after its last fierce eruption in 1980. It is a stratovolcano placed in Skamania County, Washington. It is placed in the Cascade Mountain Range, and is known as a part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc. This is a small segment of the pacific Ring of Fire that includes over 160 active volcanoes.

Facts About Mount Saint Helens

When someone says "Mount Saint Helens", you will probably immediately think of the massive eruption on May 18, 1980. This was the most economically destructive and deadliest volcanic event in the history of the United States. It killed fifty-seven people; it destroyed 185 miles of highway, 15 miles or rail roadways, 47 bridges and 250 homes.

The eruption caused a huge avalanche of debris, which reduced the elevation of the summit from 9677 feet to 8365 feet. It replaced the summit with a one mile wide horse-shoe-shaped crater. In the aftermath was created the Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument, to support the volcano and allow it to be studied.

Mount Saint Helens is a large eruptive cone that is made of lava rock interspersed with pumice, ash and other deposits. The mountain has layers of andesite and basalt straight through which lava has erupted. There were two dacite domes on Mount Saint Helens before 1980, but both were destroyed in that eruption.

When this volcano erupted, the whole mountain was shaken by a 5.1 earthquake, and the entire north face of the mountain collapsed in a rock and debris avalanche. Approximately 230 miles of forest land was blown over or buried under volcanic deposits. Simultaneously, a massive cloud of ash rose skyward and drifted downwind, which turned day into night for citizen in the immediate area. The eruption lasted nine hours, and Mount Saint Helens and the surrounding area were changed within the first moments.

Mount Saint Helens is young when compared to the other not-as celebrated volcanoes in the Cascade range. It was only formed within the past 40,000 years. This volcano is the most active in the range within the last 10,000 years or so.

Before the eruption in 1980, Mount Saint Helens was the 5th highest mountain peak in the state of Washington. It was called Mt Fuji of America, and, with its snow-covered symmetrical dome, it stood out prominently from the hills around it. Its peak rose higher than 5,000 feet above its base, where the lower parts would merge with adjacent ridges.

The streams that begin high atop the volcano enter the main river systems on either side of the mountain. These streams are fed by much snow and rain, as the average yearly rainfall in the area is about 140 inches. The sometimes lazy flow of the rivers belies the power that lies below the earth's surface.

It was a sunny day when I was waiting for my wife to come at the Mall, so that we could buy clothes for our child. She was 1 hour late. I made a call and found that she was with her mum and they were waiting for the car mechanic to put the new tyre and convert the punctured one.

It was too late. I must go back to my office. My clients must be waiting for me. Just when I plan to leave that place, I struck a lady. I was going to say sorry, when my senses stopped cooperating me. It was Samantha. My mouth was opened and I was steering like I never say a girl before. She looked at me and said its okay, its not new between us.

So we meet again. She asked me about my wife, children and our old friends. I said they were all okay. Not allowing to let me talk, she again asked about me health. She said that you are seeing quite weak. I said no! It's just work pressure.

It was my turn to fulfill the formalities, so I asked her about her health, house and even if she good married yet or not. She said that she is not yet married. When I asked why, she answered that there was some question with my fiancée a 3 years back. And after lots of house pressure I am again going exchange rings with a new man. I asked her what was the guess that her relation broke 3 years earlier. She said nothing just then I was not able to resolve whom I love and whom I don't.

This strange rejoinder made me think carefully on the issue, but then I saw a guy arrival near her. She introduced that guy as her fiancée. We just shaked hands and moved on. I looked back and she was waving her hand towards me. I did the same.

I remembered that when I got engaged she was not there. And she did not came to my marriage. At that time she went to U.S. For supplementary studies. Well it was a nice day, as I met my oldest and sweetest and most respectable friend. I was feeling good. My anger towards my wife was over. So I decided to sit the restaurant and wait for my wife and child and of course my mum in law.

At the restaurant I met Sandy. He said he is the owner of the restaurant and now told that I am his special guest. The coffee was free for me I thought. We asked about what we were doing these days. He said that he got married last year. And his wife is pregnant. I asked him about Samantha. Does he know anything about her. He said that the poor girl broke her marriage 3 years earlier and after so much interval she is again going to be engaged. I said you know everything about her and how does that happens. He said she was going to be married to my elder brother. I immediately asked her then you must be knowing the guess what made her engagement broke. She is so beautiful, sweet and lovable someone then how come such a nice lady has to face such a problem.

He looked at me and moved his head down. I again asked why her engagement was broken and why was she saying that I could not resolve at that time whom I love and whom I don't?

He answered it was due to you. I was so astonished. How is it possible I asked. He said that on the day of engagement she started crying and remembered she called you also. I said yes, it might be due to new relationships.

Sandy moved his head. I said tell me the truth. He said that easily she stopped the engagement because she was missing you at the party. She told me that she feels alone without me. It was the same day when you were getting engaged. She also made you call to tell you the she loves you. But you were so happy with your engagement that you could not understand, what she was trying to say on the phone.

I said it is impossible. I also loved her. But she never said anything to me. I plan if I said anything to her than I might loose a good friend too. If she only had said once I would leave everything for her love. I looked up and complaint god what is this. Anyway I must move now. I said bye paid the bill and went out of the restaurant with heavy heart.

There I saw Samantha leaving the place with her fiancée. She looked at me from the car. They both waved bye to me, and I did the same. The car went closer from me. And so did Samantha. She was steering in my eyes and her eyes were glowing. I felt like she still loves me. And may be I too...

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

We haven't said much about Billy Lane in quite awhile now so I plan I would share my feelings at this point. As most of you know Billy is headed for trial in February unless it is delayed again or a plea trade is reached. There beyond doubt has been no news in awhile which is not a surprise. In fact, it has given me a opportunity to look at the tragedy without a lot of noise.

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

Billy Lane Revisited Part 2

My emotions are in control and I feel smarter and good informed than in the beginning. I have also had the opportunity to talk with a whole of builders who know Billy and I have asked each one of them about the issue. They know Billy good than most anyone so, there opinions carry a lot of weight with me. There are so many who offer an plan like they are family members when in fact, they may have met him once or twice at shows, shared a drink, read about him, or seen him on Tv. They draw conclusions based on very little. They mostly want to hang him or let him go. The emotions run high when it comes to Billy Lane. He was and is a controversial frame who represents distinct things to distinct people. I have yet to meet or speak with anyone who is neutral on the subject. Citizen love Billy Lane or they hate him. This is part of the heritage Billy has built and part of what made him rich and elevated him to rock star status. He was on Tv all the time. He was in magazines, at an huge whole of shows, in newspapers and was for many the face of the industry. He was a hard drinking, anti-establishment, talented, outspoken, in your face kind of guy who loved the spot light and took great risks both with his own life and the lives of others. He was the accepted for the rebellious, tough talking, womanizing biker that so many imagine about. He symbolized the free time seeking, non-conformist, motorcycle guy who many wanted to be.

Remember "Be Like Mike" in the adds for Michael Jordon?" Well, in the motorcycle world it was "Be Like Billy". I think that Billy believed the hype. He felt like an outlaw. He thrived on the adulation, he flaunted the law, he rebelled against authority and he plan he could walk on water. I think the se beliefs are what brought Billy down. If you think about it, it was only a matter of time. As the great Indian Larry said "you can't live life like that. You just can't" When you peel away the hype things come to be more clear. Who is Billy Lane anyhow? Why does he matter to so many? What has he done to stir the emotions of so many? What has he done for society, what about the men and women in the industry? What has Billy's mess done to them?

I am not about to try and by comparison Billy in depth. I don't know enough about what got him where he was but I do know something about what got him to where he is. Billy grew up in Florida. He came from a family that no one seems to talk very much about. He went to college and studied engineering. He didn't go to Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, R.P.I. Or any one of the first tier engineering schools. He did go to school and he got a degree. His older brother Warren is a motorcycle artist and builder but, he is the antithesis of Billy. He is very incommunicable and lives in Miami. He too, is very skilled. Billy got out of school and went to work with/for Warren and then went out on his own. He industrialized motorcycle parts and holds some patents. He felt strong enough to go out on his own and he did. He started with nothing working out of a very small space. The rest is history.

Choppers Inc was born, parts were made and sold, bikes were built and sold but, most importantly a trend began. In the early to mid-nineties the motorcycle business took off. Baby boomers had some money, wanted some freedom, wanted to recapture their youth so, they started to buy motorcycles. The motorcycle is a fastener of freedom, rebellion, independence, and a feeling that is not new. It started a long time ago. The business had its ups and downs. The icon Harley just about went broke and sold out to amf. Yep, a bowling company. Willy G. And a group bought it back and now, it is one of the true success stories of the last 20 years. The business was back and by the mid nineties was a rocket waiting to be launched. The boomers had money and a need. They wanted bigger, better, faster, prettier, eye catching machines. The custom and artificial custom were about to beyond doubt happen. Big Dog began and a great many of today's builders started to build and make serious custom motorcycles. They also began to make serious money.

Billy Lane, Jesse James, and the Teutels caught the big break. The world of the motorcycle came to Tv. There was motorcycle mania, American Chopper and Biker Build-Off. These shows made commonplace Citizen some of whom had prime skills into rock stars. Jesse was well known out in California, the Teutels came from a small town in north New York, and Billy and Larry arguably became the face of Biker Build Off. They were on there more than anyone else. Russell may have caught up, Matt too. I'm not sure. Each of them appeared at least 3 times.

Well, in 2002 the Teutels were in a small shop, Billy was largely unknown, Jesse was well known but only in a cult-ish way and the same for Larry. Arlen Ness had been the most successful, well known name and has been at it since Billy was just a baby. Arlen is still determined the Godfather by most. The Tv changed things and Billy and the rest became famous, rich, and were in a place they could never have imagined. The business was white hot and is just now cooling off some.

Billy Lane is a talented, charismatic, symbolic, smart man who rode the wave. What is important to comprehend is that he didn't found the cure for cancer, he didn't save the world, he didn't change or create an industry, his innovations were relatively minor, he didn't get a Nobel prize, he didn't save the planet, he isn't Henry Ford, He isn't Carol Shelby, He isn't John Delorean, He isn't John F Kennedy. He is a guy who made a few bucks, presented an image, and stirred some emotions. He is not unlike Michael Landon (little house on the prairie), Buffalo Bob Smith (Howdy Doody), Pinky Lee, John Forsythe, Carol O'connor, or many others that caught a wave and rode it. He's just a guy that most won't remember and who beyond doubt is pretty insignificant in the scheme of things.

Having said that Billy Lane is a man who at best was driving with a suspended license and hit and killed a man. At worst he is reckless drunk who plan he could walk on water and despite numerous warnings proceeded to drive a vehicle, cross a double yellow line, drive with a suspended license, and take an innocent life. He has hurt the business and his brothers and sisters. Corporate sponsorships are gone, appearance money is less, and all that I have spoken with say the damage is pretty severe.

Billy Lane should be treated the same as anyone else. If innocent he should be free. If found guilty he should be judged and sentenced just like anyone else. Is Billy Lane a tragic figure? Yes. Is what happened sad? Yes. Is Gerald Morelock gone? Yes. Will history remember? No. It's time for closure and for all of us to move on. I will all the time be in awe of the charisma Billy has as we have had practically 60,000 Citizen read just about Billy since September and the trial has yet to begin.

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

Challenges in a Changing Economy

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

How to Find a High Paying Commission Sales Job

Times have changed. It is no longer a time where a person can find a respectable employer, work hard for them for the next 40 years, and expect to have a convenient retirement. Even more, for people starting out in entry level sales positions often bounce from firm to company, looking for an revenue that is just not ready anymore in the traditional corporate model.

Changing times means changing strategies, and this is where this description comes in.

How to find a sales job that pays you 0k per year.

1. Take an list of yourself. Do you have the qualities that are essential to earn a six frame revenue in sales? Are you up to date on sales strategies that generate success - or are you just 'taking it as it comes?' victorious salespeople are good at strategic planning. victorious salespeople know what they are going to do before they do it, and they follow through on their plans.

2. generate a lead generation strategy. Cold calling is a thing of the past. Today's victorious sales executives don't cold call, they 'warm call.' They spend the majority of their time meeting whether face to face with qualified, curious prospects, or meeting them in person. I once worked for a firm in Arizona where the top salesperson was making ,000 per month working only 30 hours per week, and that same firm had salespeople earning less than ,000 per month working 50 hours per week. The difference? Warm calling.

3. generate a strategic operation plan. You need to know exactly what you want to perform with your sales career, and exactly how you plan on accomplishing it. You need to know who the decision makers are for your product, what demographics they fall into, how to reach them, and what they are curious in. You need to have a step by step, detailed vision of every stage of your work if you want to be a salesperson making more than 0,000 per year.

4. Be ready for your interview. victorious salespeople can sell themselves. If you walk into an interview, and you are ready for the toughest questions, you are dressed for the part, and you are confident, sales managers will hire you for most positions on the spot. There are countless times that I have interviewed people wanting a sales position that paid them more than 0k, but they weren't even ready for the interview.

5. generate a strategic plan on making sure that you are the person interviewed. Getting a good job as a salesperson is a lot like selling a service. You need to generate a marketing strategy, set appointments, do presentations, and follow up. Think landing a job like you are selling your product, and you'll do well. Plus, the more people you have who want to hire you, the better position you are going to have when it is time to pick the firm that is right for you.

Thoughts on the direction of the world cheaper and how it will work on your sales career:

Like I said before, these are changing times. There are now more students in India in the top 1% of their class who have an Iq of more than 120 than there are total students in North America. Read that again.

It will be very soon before the majority of traditional jobs in America are outsourced to countries that can supply faster, more reliable, better service, better technology, and better resources. The top paid positions in the world are not going to be Tech jobs, accounting, law, medicine, or any of the traditional positions...

...they will be sales, marketing, and distribution jobs.

And even more, we are undergoing a shift away from Corporate America, where clubs are figuring out that it is better business, and a smarter marketing strategy to outsource their work than it is to have traditional W-2 employees.

This leads me to my final point on how to get a sales job that pays you 0,000 per year or more:

Work as an independent contractor, and be the president of your own independent corporation. Work on a commission only, output based payment plan that will pay you for what you produce. Learn the ropes of direct response marketing, relationship selling, and outsourcing.

If you follow those guidelines, you can find a firm where you can make 10 times the profit with the same work and attempt that person will make in a sales job in corporate America. Let me give you an example.

I once worked for a firm that I produced more than ,000 in profit for them every single month. Out of their profit, I was paid approximately ,000 per month.

Now, I work as an independent representative, but I partake in a 68% revenue share. That means that I don't get paid a ration of the profit, I take my revenue out of the gross revenue - and 68% of it is paid to me to escort my business.

I cannot stress how foremost it is if you want to have a long lasting, profitable sales work to work for yourself.

Now, go for it!

Show And Tell - A Springboard For Math And Science study

Show And Tell - A Springboard For Math And Science study

Before I started teaching, I imagined Show and Tell would consist of an interested group of young children listening politely to each other and passing items around with care. This assumption fell apart fairly quickly during my first year as a teacher. Although there were times that things ran smoothly, the problems with Show and Tell were many and I found myself avoiding the experience. Even four and five year old children competed about who brought the coolest things. The event became even less enchanting as students wanted to have a turn playing with toys, bored children fidgeted, squirmed and lost interest or upset children disrupted the class routines as they tried to keep their items a secret. Show and Tell often became a weekly advertisement for the newest toy or fast food bistro freebie.

Parents also complained of the stress of trying to remember Show and Tell days, of trying to help their child pick items to show or of dealing with indecisive children who wanted to bring something that would impress their classmates. Other parents took over the task completely, choosing objects and sending them with detailed notes to be read to the class or with instructions that no one was to touch the item nor was it to get broken. There had to be a better way.

In an exertion to make Show and Tell work for the students, for me, and for busy parents, I picked one day a week for the activity and scheduled it as part of my math and science time. Everybody in the class was asked to bring the same item each week. I regularly brought a few extras for the few who forgot. Instead of using show and tell times to give children convention in social speaking, I scheduled different days for them to speak in front of the class about something they had recorded in their math and science journals.

Parents received a letter explaining that the purpose of show and tell would be to enlarge the math, science and literacy programs by building vocabulary and practicing classification and comparative skills. The children were to have the responsibility of choosing the items, but from much narrower criteria.

The rules were: do not bring...
anything valuable, anything that could not be touched by all, or anything that would upset the pupil greatly if it got brokenanything alive, as students often have pet allergies and bugs in bottles are too often neglecteditems too large - ask - can they fit in a brown paper lunch bag? (exceptions here - books, and occasionally other items)toys - as they caused too many problems as mentioned previously

The parents were to remind their son or daughter to pick an item from the list, but not to interfere with their child's choice as long as it fit with the weekly list.

I also sent home a Show and Tell list for the whole year. This had a short note that recommend that the parents post the list on the fridge at their child's eye level, that they encourage the child to cross off each item weekly and to start finding for the next item, and that they remind the child to pack the item in their backpack the night before.

Classroom Show and Tell rules were: students were to bring the items into the class at the starting of the day, label them with name tags (children have printed name tags in their take home boxes; tape is in most centers) and put them on the Show and Tell display table. The children were all the time very excited on Show and Tell mornings and I scheduled some free time for them to look at the items on the table and to tell a few classmates about their items.

Sample Show and Tell list

When creating a each year Show and Tell list, put the date first, then the item to bring, illustrated with a simple drawing and finally a brief article of what the class activity will be. Keep the font large. Here is a sample from my list.

An apple (not for snack) - sorting, classifying and measurementSomething round - math vocabulary such as edges, face, circle, circular, classifying items by a variety of criteria such as size, color, materialA leaf - sorting shapes, colors, counting points, graphing similar types, tracing leaf shapes on papers and creating charts of similar and different leavesSomething shiny - comparison, vocabulary - reflection, reflect, testing (with a flashlight) how each item reflects lightSomething that can be recycled - knowledge of recycling, classifying items, counting, more, fewerAn old greeting card - determination with blocks. How many blocks long is your card? How many one inch squares cover your card? Graphing holiday images A shell - classify and sort by size, color, shape, notice drawingsSomething about Canada (map, flag, book, trinket) - awareness of Canadian symbols, shape of country, shapes of provinces, counting provinces, graphing occurrences of similar symbols

I generally chose objects that complemented monthly themes.

Sample Show and Tell lesson with a Rock

The children place their Show and Tell rocks on the center of the carpet, and then sit down in a circle around them. I start with notice type questions. "What do you notice about the rocks? How are they the same? How are they different?

Let's sort the rocks by size. Which rock looks the largest? Which rock is the smallest? Let's make a long line." Everybody takes a turn placing his or her rock with pupil or educator suggestions to rearrange the rocks when necessary.

"Now let's sort the rocks by darker colors and lighter colors. We can put the darker rocks on this plastic mat and the lighter ones on the other mat and the striped or speckled rocks in the middle." When this activity is closed and depending on the group attention span you can further investigations. Examples, "Are there more dark rocks or more light rocks? Are there fewer dull rocks or fewer shiny ones? Let's sort the rocks by which ones wobble and which ones do not wobble. "

Counting items, graphing, extending math vocabulary or practicing other math concepts are easy to combine into the lesson when there is a large quantity of the same object. Gear the lesson to the attention span of the whole group. Children who want to continue comparing their rocks, for instance with a equilibrium scale, can do so at center time.

Next I model an notice drawing on chart paper. Draw with a label and talk out loud to delineate your thinking. "I noticed that there are more wobbly rocks and fewer rocks that do not wobble. I am going to draw that for my notice drawing. I will draw a line down my paper and put more wobbly rocks on one side and fewer rocks that don't wobble on the other. The rocks are mainly round shapes so I will make circles. I will add dots to some to make them look speckled. I am putting minuscule lines beside the rocks on this side to make them look like they are moving. Now I will color in with crayons so I don't cover up my drawing lines. I will color some light grey and some dark grey. Now I need to print the word, wobbly under my wobbly rocks. What sound do I hear first and what letter do I use? What is the next sound and letter?" Do the same with the words not wobbly. Finish with a drawing of personel rocks. "I am going to draw the rock I brought to show on the other page. It is black and has white stripes." Stamp the drawing with the date stamp.

The children then sit at tables and article one or more of their observations about the lesson in their science and math journals. This is an open-ended activity and results will depend on the developmental level of each child. The children take turns stamping the date on their page.

This recipe worked well for the children, their parents and for me. All the children had an opening to be complicated during each Show and Tell day and reviewing old, or studying new, science, math, and literacy concepts were a part of each Show and Tell experience.

Alaskan Coyotes

Alaskan Coyotes

Coyotes have a range of fur colors and thickness levels, which vary depending on how cold, or how warm it is where they live. The summer coat looks gray, along with tan on the belly area, muzzle, ears and lower legs. Many coyotes live in or near city areas close to human contact, which sometimes lead to problems for people. Coyotes are usually afraid of humans, however if they need food, they will take their chances and go near a human to find a meal, which will give them courage to face humans all the time. Coyotes can live to 15 years old in the wild and their life span goes to 20 years in captivity.

Coyotes are found in many areas in North America and their people is increased in other areas due to the decreased people in the lower States. Coyotes in Alaska can be found on the Kenai Peninsula. They look like a shepherd-collie dog that is about medium-sized but it has some distinctive features. A coyote has sharp pointed ears, which never droop, a nose that is sharp and pointed and a bushy tail. Its legs are slimmer and its feet are smaller than those of a dog; its whole body weight is 22 to 33 pounds, which is one-third the size of a wolf. All male coyotes are a bit heavier than females and a male coyote's height averages at 2 feet high at the shoulder, with its entire body along with the tail measures about 4 feet long.

When coyotes hunt in the wild, they are opportunistic, so they will eat whatever they find during their hunt. When they hunt prey, they go after deer, birds and small mammals, however they also eat berries when these prey are not around. Once a coyotes finds a large animal, it will use its speed to chase it. Coyotes are similar to foxes, both having great endurance, which helps coyotes to catch prey. Once the prey gets tired from running, the coyote ambushes and eats the animal. Foxes and coyotes have other trait in common; whenever one of these animals catches smaller prey, it waits and pounces to capture the prey using its front feet. Coyotes hunt by themselves, in pairs and in groups; they work together and chase prey using relay techniques for animals that can outrun a single coyote.

Coyotes have to watch out when they are hunting, because other animals hunt them as well. Bald and golden eagles, wolfs, owls and bears prey on coyotes in the wild.

Coyotes are exquisite runners, maybe the best of the canidae family. They can run at speeds similar to a car on the freeway reaching 30 miles per hour and sometimes 40 miles per hour. They are also good swimmers and jumpers and love to play with other coyotes.

Coyotes are smart animals that are found throughout Alaska; they hunt solo and sometimes in groups.
